Francis Weiss Rabkin is a trans playwright and television writer. They co-founded the performance collective Tight Braid Group. Their plays and collaborations with musicians, poets, and choreographers have been presented in Philadelphia, Chicago, and in New York at HERE Arts, Dixon Place, Bushwick Starr, the Prelude Festival, and The Brick. They are honored to have received residencies at Abrons Art Center, the Millay Colony, the Drama League of New York, and the Wassaic Project. In 2016-17, Weiss Rabkin was a 2050 Fellow at the New York Theatre Workshop. Weiss Rabkin’s play Won’t Be A Ghost (2016) received a production grant from the Arch & Bruce Brown Foundation, and was listed as an honorable mention by The Kilroys List. They have taught performance workshops at Abrons Art Center and Wesleyan University. Weiss Rabkin’s first play, when they were 13 years old, won the Pegasus Players’ Young Playwrights Festival, and is still performed by Pegasus Players in classrooms across Chicago as a teaching tool.
